Unfortunately these slides don’t come with audio, but they are a good reminder of how UX practitioners should approach their trade.
Also, a nice low-tech map for Paris’ subway system.
Often times as a technologist/designer we try to design for what is most technologically advanced, instead of focusing on how to solve for the user’s need. Interesting contrast with the kiosk version that nobody uses. The physical map is clear and big, and immediately draws the attention of travelers that need to find directions. The kiosk doesn’t offer that type of affordance with it’s form. In this case and many others, the low tech but familiar solution was the best solution.
